PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon, is a polymer material with excellent properties. This material is resistant to acids, alkalis, and various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. It is also resistant to high temperatures and has an extremely low friction coefficient.

Feature of PTFE Filter Bags

Filtration Principle of PTFE Filter Bags

  • Physical filtration: PTFE filter bag filters particles with its microporous structure, and its pore size is usually between 0.1 micron and 1 micron. When gas or liquid passes through the filter bag, larger particles will be blocked by the pore size of the filter bag, while smaller particles can pass through the pore size of the filter bag, thus achieving the purpose of filtration.
  • Surface filtration: Its porous surface can capture and aggregate particles to form a dense filter layer to prevent smaller particles from passing through. When the filter layer formed in the early stage is thick enough, its filtration effect will be better.
  • Inertial interception: Inertial interception refers to the inertia of particles in gas or liquid that prevents them from directly passing through the pore size of the filter bag and being intercepted. When particles flow through the filter bag, the inertial force will cause larger and heavier particles to deviate from the direction of the airflow and be intercepted on the surface of the filter bag.
  • Electrostatic adsorption: Due to the charged nature of the surface of the PTFE filter bag, when there are charged fine particles in the gas, they will be adsorbed by the static electricity on the surface of the filter bag, thereby increasing the filtration effect.

Surface Treatment of PTFE Filter Bags

There are 2 kinds of treatment : “PTFE film” and “PTFE dipping”

  • PTFE film: Improve filtration precision: ≤10mg/m³, but lower the filtration efficiency; and a substantial increase in acid-base resistance property.
  • PTFE dipping: Improve filtration precision: ≤25mg/m³, does not lower the filtration efficiency; and a small increase in acid-base resistance property.
