PTFE(Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a polymer compound obtained by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene. It has excellent chemical stability and corrosion resistance (it is one of the best materials for corrosion resistance in the world today, except for molten metal sodium and liquid fluorine). It can withstand all other chemicals. It is widely used in various working conditions where acid and alkali resistance is required. It is sealed, highly lubricated, non-sticky, electrically insulating and has good aging resistance.
PTFE itself is not toxic to humans, but one of the raw materials used in the production process, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), is considered to be potentially carcinogenic.
