The ceramic membrane is also called GT membrane, and is an asymmetric membrane prepared by a special process of inorganic ceramic raw materials. Under the action of pressure, small molecules (or liquids) permeate through the membrane, and macromolecular substances (or solid particles, liquid droplets) are trapped by the membrane to achieve solid-liquid separation, concentration and purification.

Compared with organic film, inorganic ceramic film has high temperature resistance, good chemical stability, acid resistance, alkali resistance, organic solvent resistance, high mechanical strength, strong anti-microbial ability, large permeation, high membrane flux and good separation performance and other characteristics.

There are two main obstacles of the application of inorganic ceramic membranes in wastewater treatment. One is that the manufacturing process is complicated, the cost is high, and the price is expensive. The second is the membrane flux problem. which only overcomes membrane fouling and increases the filtration flux of the membrane. It can really be applied to all areas of water treatment only if the filtration flux and fouling of the membrane be overcome.
