(3) Proper use of the collector: the collector can shrink the width of the sliver in the drawing process, prevent the loss of the edge fibers, reduce flying flowers, make the sliver twist in a relatively tight state, make the yarn structure compact, smooth, reduce hairiness and enhance strength. However, if used and managed improperly, the collector will appear “jump” or “flip” phenomenon, resulting in increased yarn defects, decreased yarn evenness quality, increased hairiness and broken ends. Because the collector is equivalent to the additional frictional boundary of the front zone, its stability directly affects the yarn evenness quality. Because the sliver feeding into the draft zone of the leather ring moves left and right by the transverse motion device, when the collector outlet does not match the sliver trajectory, the sliver will be scratched and the straight fibers will become twisted and entangled, resulting in yarn defects and hairiness. Therefore, the use and management of collectors must be strengthened in production.
At present, there are also some manufacturers to reform the drafting device on the spinning frame, using D-type drafting device similar to roving frame, that is, adding a finishing area (draft multiple 1.05) before the ring drafting area, and placing the collector in the finishing area, so that each area can achieve functional independence，realize “drawing area does not gather and gathering area does not draft”, which is conducive to the overall improvement of yarn quality.
