Paper finishing equipment. Its function is to improve the smoothness, gloss, tightness and thickness uniformity of the paper web. It is an integral part of the paper machine. It is installed between the dryer section and the winder. It is usually composed of several rollers made of cold-excited cast iron or hardened steel. It is vertically overlapped and mounted on the frame and driven by the bottom roller. The dried paper is rolled and then sent to the paper roll section. Generally, the medium and low speed paper machine has 3 to 6 rolls, and the high speed paper machine has 8 to 10 rolls. Thin paper, single-sided glossy paper, and paper sheets with high absorption requirements do not need to be calendered.

The calender is an accessory device for the glazing coater. After the coating layer coated on the surface of the printed matter is dried and calendered by a calender, the smoothness and gloss of the glazing coating can be greatly improved.
The calender is mainly composed of a printed matter conveying mechanism, a mechanical transmission, an electrical control system, and the like, and includes a printed matter conveying table, a manual high-pressure oil pump, a hot-pressing roller, a pressure roller, a speed-regulating driving motor, a calendering steel belt, a cooling box, and the like. Observation door, cooling water tank, ventilation circulation system, transfer roller, and print collection table.

The calender works in a continuous rolling mode. The printed matter is conveyed from the paper feeding table to the calender belt between the hot pressing roller and the pressing roller, and the coating is attached to the surface of the calendering belt to be calendered under the action of temperature and pressure. The calendered coating layer is gradually cooled to form a shiny surface layer. The calender belt is a specially treated stainless steel endless steel belt. The hot press rolls are internally equipped with sets of far infrared heating sources to provide the heat required for calendering. The pressure of the pressure roller is mostly electro-hydraulic pressure regulation system, which can accurately meet the pressure requirement in calendering. The calendering speed can be controlled by a speed-regulating drive motor or a slip motor.
