New Functions of Chemical Modification
In addition to the fact that the structure and properties of waste textiles can not meet the actual application requirements, the macromolecule structure and properties of fiber raw materials have not changed fundamentally. Therefore, the recycling of waste textiles can be realized by chemical modification. This method realizes the functional change of waste textiles by means of grafting, crosslinking and hydrolysis. For example, waste acrylic fibers, which produce cyanide in combustion, can be changed from electrostatic materials to absorbent materials by hydrolysis.
The hydrolysis products of waste acrylic fibers have a wide range of applications. They can be used as adhesives, printing and dyeing aids, soil improvers for agricultural production and urban vertical greening, water absorbent materials, slurry treatment agents for oil fields, polymer scale inhibitors, etc. In recent years, they have also been used in the preparation of ionic fibers and new functional materials.
