Sintering refers to the process of burning yarn or fabric through flame or on hot metal surface to remove the surface hairs.

Sintering is the first process in the pretreatment of general fabrics. After textile processing, a lot of fuzz will be produced on the surface of yarns and fabrics, which will affect the effect of dyeing and finishing. According to the requirements of products, some yarns and most fabrics have to go through the singeing process to make the surface smooth and clear.

The flame temperature of burning is usually 900 – 1000 C, and the surface temperature of hot metal sheet is 800 C, which is higher than the decomposition temperature or ignition point of various fibers. When singing, yarns or fabrics pass through the flame at high speed in a certain tension state. Because the hairs stretched out on the surface are relatively heated in large area, they are instantaneously warmed up to the ignition point and burned. Because the yarns and fabrics are closely woven, the warming speed is not so fast, so it is seldom affected.
