Kevlar was originally called “polyparaphenylene terephthalamide”, the repeating unit of the chemical formula is -[-CO-C6H4-CONH-C6H4-NH-]-, and the amide group attached to the benzene ring is a para-position structure.
Because of its low density, high strength, good toughness, high temperature resistance, easy processing and molding, the new material has five times the strength of the same quality steel, but the density is only one-fifth of that of steel, which has attracted people’s attention.
Kevlar fiber properties:
1. Permanent heat and flame retardancy, the limiting oxygen index Loi is greater than 28.
2.Permanent antistatic properties.
3.permanent acid and alkali and organic solvent erosion.
4.high strength, high wear resistance, high tear resistance.
5.No droplets are produced in case of fire, and no toxic gas is produced.
6.When the cloth is fired, the cloth surface is thickened to enhance the sealing and does not break.
