PTFE staple fibers are short-length fibers made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), commonly known for its excellent chemical resistance, high-temperature stability, and non-stick properties. These fibers are widely used in the production of filter media, technical textiles, and specialty fabrics due to their unique characteristics.

Description

Filmedia PTFE staple fibers are manufactured using the “film splitting” production process, which means that after the PTFE resin is mixed, it is made through processes such as film rolling, sintering, stretching, film splitting, and combing. The cross-section of a single fiber is a square or diamond-shaped fiber bundle. The fiber bundle can be curled and cut to a fixed length according to customer needs to form chopped fibers.

Product Features

  • Chemical Resistance: PTFE is highly resistant to a wide range of chemicals, making it ideal for environments with harsh chemicals or extreme pH levels.
  • Thermal Stability: PTFE can withstand temperatures ranging from -200°C to +260°C, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
  • Non-Stick and Low Friction: The low friction coefficient of PTFE ensures that the fibers don’t adhere to substances, making them useful in self-lubricating and non-stick applications.
  • Water and Oil Repellency: PTFE is inherently hydrophobic and oleophobic, providing excellent resistance to moisture and oil.
  • Durability: PTFE fibers are highly durable and resistant to abrasion, even in tough industrial environments.

Our Advantages

  • Uniform fineness, high strength, strong combability;
  • Can be used for the production of 100% PTFE needle-punched filter media;
  • Can be customized to different density specifications such as 3.5d, 5d, 7d, etc;
  • Greatly improve the filtration efficiency of filter media under the water punching process.

Applications

  • Filter Media: PTFE staple fibers are commonly used in needle felt filter bags for filtration in industries such as chemical processing, power generation, and incineration.
  • Textiles: They are also used in technical textiles for protective clothing and industrial fabrics that require resistance to extreme temperatures and chemicals.
  • Composite Materials: PTFE fibers can be incorporated into composites for applications where chemical resistance and low friction are critical.
