Activated carbon filter cartridges are a popular choice for water and air filtration systems, known for their ability to remove a wide range of contaminants, including chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chemicals, odors, and certain heavy metals. They work by utilizing the process of adsorption, where particles and contaminants are attracted to and trapped on the surface of the carbon material.

Description

Filmedia® activated carbon filter cartridges are shaped by extruding activated carbon fines and food grade additives continuously, guarnteeing excellent absorbency of grained actived carbon, no release of carbon fines of bulk activated cabon, and remove chlorine, organic matter, decolorization and odor removal.

Activated Carbon Filter Cartridges

  • Strong outer netting for surface integrity and more durability.
  • The inner layer is surrounded by a nonwoven fabric to ensure no carbon bleed-off.
  • Vinyl Plastisol molding end caps provide complete sealing to prevent chlorine & dirt from leaking out.
  • The center polypropylene core both increases pressure-bearing capacity and reduces deposits.

How Activated Carbon Filter Cartridges Work

The activated carbon has a highly porous surface area, which allows it to adsorb (not absorb) contaminants. The process occurs when contaminants in the water or air come into contact with the carbon’s surface, adhering to it due to the carbon’s electrical charge.

Working Principle of Activated Carbon Filter Cartridges

Activated Carbon

Activated carbon is made from natural materials, such as coconut shells, wood, or coal. Because it uses renewable resources, it is considered an environmentally friendly filtration option.

Activated carbon filters are effective at removing the following contaminants:

  • Chlorine.
  • Pesticides and herbicides.
  • Volatile organic compounds).
  • Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, and copper.
  • Medications, industrial chemicals, and certain bacteria.
  • Odors in water and air.

Common Application of Activated Carbon Filter Cartridges

  • Drinking Water Filtration: Removes chlorine, pesticides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other chemicals to improve the taste and safety of water.
  • Air Purification: Used in air purifiers to remove smoke, odors, and chemical pollutants from the air.
  • Aquarium Filtration: Removes toxins, chemicals, and odors from aquarium water.
  • Industrial Applications: Used in certain industrial processes to filter air and water in factories and wastewater treatment plants.
