PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) filter cartridges are highly specialized filters used for a range of applications, particularly in industries that require high chemical resistance and excellent filtration performance. PTFE is known for its outstanding chemical compatibility, high thermal stability, and hydrophobic or hydrophilic properties, making it ideal for filtration in harsh environments.
Description
Filmedia® offers hydrophobic membrane PTFE filter cartridges (high porosity, high flux, long life) .
Main Features
- Hydrophobic Membrane: Naturally highly hydrophobic, making it an excellent material for gas sterilization filtration.
- Wide Chemical Compatibility: Resistant to various solvents and oxidizers.
- Hydrodynamic Design: Offers high efficiency in filtration.
- Low Initial Pressure Drop: Longer service life, lower energy consumption.
- No Adhesives: Safe and reliable, ensuring no fiber shedding.

PTFE Hydrophobic Membrane
PTFE hydrophobic membrane repel water and other polar liquids while allowing gases and non-polar solvents to pass through. Its unique properties make it ideal for demanding filtration applications. PTFE membrane is made of natural permanently hydrophobic PTFE material. Even under very low pressure difference, it can ensure that moist air or other gases can pass through without obstruction, while aqueous solution cannot pass through. Its performance is just the opposite of hydrophilic membrane. PTFE filter membrane has extremely strong chemical compatibility and can filter almost all organic solvents and highly corrosive chemicals. When PTFE filter membrane must be used to filter aqueous solutions, it must be pre-soaked with ethanol or isopropanol before the aqueous solution can be filtered.

Production Process
The pleated PTFE filter element is made of a biaxially oriented PTFE membrane and an inlet guide layer. The process includes pleating, sealing the filter media edge, fixing the inner core and outer cover, and welding the end caps. The filter element does not contain any adhesives and will not cause media shedding. The pleated PTFE filter cartridge is integrity tested by bubble point and diffusion flow tests and subsequently rinsed with pure water. It meets the biosafety and endotoxin control standards of the Pharmacopeia (USP) and is suitable for a variety of industries.
